Why
CISOs are not measured by their technical expertise. They are measured by their impact: Can they explain security to the board in a way that is understood? Can they lead their team? Can they remain calm during crises and make wise decisions?
These are questions about leadership strengths, not technical skills or legal competence.
As a modern CISO, you must be a strategic business partner, a communicator, and a visionary. You translate cyber risks into business impact, guide teams through incidents, enable secure business transformations and position resilience as a competitive advantage rather than a barrier to innovation.
Some CISOs have a natural talent or enjoyed the privilege of an employer that invested in their skill set. For everybody else, we designed a more promising approach: competent teachers from various specialty fields, an off-site environment for mental peace and self-focus, and — above all — the learning value of other CISOs and their approaches to shared challenges.
